July 2025 just changed the game for musicians worldwide.
What’s Really Happening on YouTube?
There’s been a lot of talk about AI-generated content on YouTube, but let’s clear up the facts:
YouTube has NOT banned AI-generated content.
Instead, as of July 2025, YouTube is tightening its rules for monetization under the YouTube Partner Program (YPP).
Here’s What YouTube Actually Said:
“To be eligible for monetization, content must be original and show significant human input. Channels focused mainly on mass-produced or repetitive content, including AI-generated material with little to no human involvement, may lose monetization.”
In simple terms:
- If you’re using AI to spam or make endless, low-effort videos, you won’t get paid.
- If your content is creative, original, and shows clear human involvement, even if you use AI tools, you’re still welcome on YouTube, and you can still monetize your work.
Why Is YouTube Doing This?
YouTube’s update is about protecting creativity and quality:
- Viewers want real, valuable, entertaining content, not algorithmic noise.
- This move helps highlight real artists, storytellers, and creators, so their work doesn’t get buried by mass-produced AI “slop.”
